STUDENT COUNCIL

The 2008/2009 council will sponsor a canned food drive in conjunction with the Honor Society.  They are also responsible for general tasks around the school such as maintaining the sign in the front lawn.  Last year's council  also re-painted the parking lot stripes on the gym and student parking lots this past year.  Little things like this greatly facilitate safe and orderly parking for crowded events.

Honor society's members sponsor several ongoing projects in the fall including Quarter Days (every Friday) to benefit Blair Batson Children's Hospital, the canned food drive mentioned above, and a coloring book drive at Christmas to benefit Blair Batson also.

CHORUS

Sponsor:  Mrs. Ashley Owen

During 2007/2008 the Chorus recently performed for patrons as the night's highlight during the fall Harvest Carnival at the Coffee House in the gym.  Guests were treated to sweet culinary delights while being entertained.  Talents from elementary through high school were showcased performing old and new hits.  Mrs. "A" is also was responsible in leading the elementary children in production of the 2007 Christmas program, which was a Benton Box Office Hit!  It was a fantastic program and reminded us all of the true meaning of Christmas.  High school chorus members performed for residents of Martha Coker home during the Christmas season also.  The Spring Chorus production is right around the corner.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

Officers:  President-Jordan Davis, Vice President-Spencer Pierce, Secretary/Treasurer- Dee Dooley

All athletes are considered members of FCA and are encouraged to display sportsmanlike conduce both on and off the playing field.  Members of FCA attend various breakfast meetings and other get-togethers throughout the school year.

QUIZ BOWL

Quiz Bowl team members practice and prepare all year so that they can participate in competitions hosted at Holmes Community College, Madison Central, and Mississippi College among others.

SCIENCE CLUB

2007/2008 officers were as follows:  President-, Vice President-, Secretary- , and Treasurer-.  The Science Club members are Seniors who have excelled in their four years of science classes at Benton Academy culminating in Physics their senior year.  They experience a variety of lab activities that are designed to illustrate the impact of scientific theories on life around us.

MATH CLUB

Sponsor:  Teresa Moore

The 2007/2008 officers are as follows:  President-Brittany Johnston, Vice President-Kayla Carter, and Secretary/Treasurer-Meaghan Gelston.   

The select group of students who comprise the Benton Academy Math Club are those who chose to take the higher level math courses available to them each year of high school.  They must have advanced to the point that they are taking Advanced Math during their senior year.  Students must maintain a "B" average to earn the privilege to hold office.

YEARBOOK

The 2007/2008 Invictus is right on schedule regarding design and production.  Each staff member has his/her assignments and is working diligently.

The $70 fee required with registration reserves one yearbook for each patron family. You may purchase another if you desire more than one.

PROM

The 2007/2008 junior class of Benton Academy sponsored several fundraisers this past year that were very successful, including the annual sale of QPC products.  Their long-awaited Valentine's Balloon Sale was a huge success and they did a great job in making everyone's day a very special one. 

Prom 2008 is on the horizon as the Junior class is planning a very special event; they will be decorating the week of March 17; official workday is Wednesday, March 19.
